Anastasia State Park is one of the more difficult state parks to get a reservation at so you just have to keep checking back and you might get lucky to find a cancellation. A campsite opened up for Veterans Day weekend so we grabbed it. The weekend was filled with riding bikes, listening to live music and going to the local farmers market. The St Augustine Amphitheater is right next to the park and there is an entrance from the park so you can just walk there. We had no need to purchase tickets as you could hear the concert loud and clear from our campsite. Alabama played Friday and Saturday nights and then an English rock band played Sunday night. Once we went into he van you could not hear the music so it was not too loud. On Saturday there was a farmers market at the amphitheater that we walked to and purchased a fun bird made of PVC for our backyard. We rode bikes on the beach which is always fun.
Wildlife sightings: Back racer, Osprey, Gopher Tortoise, Black vulture, Snowy egret, Brown pelicans, gooseneck barnacles, terns, plovers, sandpipers, and gulls.
Moments of Nature
I am known to find some interesting items on the beach. This is a channel marker that washed up on shore during Hurricane Helen or Milton and I was just trying to assist the Coast Guard in moving it back to its original location.
