We booked George L Smith State Park for 2 reasons. One it is near Statesboro GA, so we could visit our niece and two because of the picture of the cypress trees on their website. Camping 2 nights here was not enough. Our campsite backed up to the pond. Also we wished we had brought our own kayaks so we were not limited on time to explore Parrish Pond. The covered bridge was also a grist mill, cotton gin, saw mill with a water-powered turbine. This park is definately one we will be returning to.
Wildlife sightings: osprey on nest, three banded water snakes. 2 were swimming and 1 lived in a log behind our campsite. We watched it slowly go into the log while we ate dinner.
