Labor Day weekend must be lucky for us as we scored 2 nights at Gamble Rodgers State Park again. So we figured let’s repeat last years trip and go to Bull Creek Fish Camp in Flagler County for 2 days before heading to Gamble Rogers. We repeated last years trip with a few changes.
Bull Creek Fish Camp is a small park (25 sites) at the end of a road in western Flagler County. The restaurant was flooded during hurricanes Ian and Nicole in 2022 and had to be taken down and nothing has been put back in its place. It is a shame as it was a good restaurant and the views of the lake were great. The boat ramp is still used as it is a great place to put in a boat or jet-skis to go out on Dead Lake or Crescent Lake by many. The campground is clean and each site has water access. We were the only RV’rs there both nights and Saturday night there was 1 family that tent camped. We basically had the place to ourselves at night.
On Saturday we were able to kayak up Bull Creek about 1 mile then the water hyacinths blocked the river and we could go no further. On Sunday we kayaked through Dead Lake and into Haw Creek for about 4 miles before turning around. The scenery was beautiful, old Florida, oaks, cypress, orchids, and birds. It was very peaceful and just what we both needed.
